FCE (Functional Capacity Evaluations)
An FCE is a detailed examination and evaluation that objectively measures an injured worker’s current level of functioning, primarily within the context of the demands of competitive employment. Measurements of function from an FCE are used to make return-to-work/activity decisions, disability determinations, or to design rehabilitation plans. An FCE measures the ability of an individual to perform functional or work-related tasks and predicts the potential to sustain these tasks over a defined time frame (APTA).
Work Hardening/Work Conditioning
Work Hardening is a specialized treatment program designed to address physical, functional and behavioral needs to assist injured workers in making the transition from passive to active healing and then return to a normal work situation. Our program offers individualized programs under the supervision of physical therapists. Each client’s program is goal oriented and designed to address physical limitations and deficits in relation to a client’s specific job demands. Programs include cardiovascular conditioning, job task simulation, individualized therapeutic exercise programs, as well as education on body mechanics and work safety. The client's progress is discussed bi-weekly by the team in order to determine the plan of care. Most programs are 4-8 weeks in duration, Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for the half day program and 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for the full day program.
